Deep Blue Documents Terms of Use

Version 3.0, created on 2026-06-25

I represent and warrant to the University of Michigan that:

- the Work is my original work and does not, to the best of my knowledge, infringe or violate the law or any rights of others.

- I have reviewed the Work to determine whether it is subject to the U.S. Department of Justice's Bulk Sensitive Data regulations, and I confirm that the Work is not subject to those regulations.

- the Work does not include content that's under the purview of University of Michigan Research Compliance Programs that are subject to export controls, present a conflict of interest for the University or the depositor(s), or whose distribution would otherwise constitute a violation of research ethics or compliance.

- I have made my Work as accessible as possible, per Deep Blue Documents' requirements for creating accessible Works.

- I have acknowledged my use of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) tools or large language models (LLMs) by citing the tools used as a contributor or as a source in my Work.

- the Work deposited was produced or sponsored by a University of Michigan affiliate or unit.

- the Work can be made publicly available, unless specific access restrictions are requested from Deep Blue Documents prior to the time of deposit.

- I have obtained all necessary rights or permissions to permit the University of Michigan to retain, reproduce, display, perform, and distribute the Work and that any third-party content is clearly identified and acknowledged within the Work.

- I acknowledge that Deep Blue Documents will continue to hold Works in the event of the dissolution of a research group, center, institute, or any other unit at University of Michigan, unless individual copyright holders request removal or access restriction.

- I acknowledge that jointly authored Works will be preserved as is until all copyright holders jointly request a change in whether or how their Work is represented in Deep Blue Documents.

By depositing a Work into Deep Blue Documents, I hereby grant to the Regents of the University of Michigan a non-exclusive license to:

- retain, reproduce, display, perform, and distribute the Work in whole or in part, including its abstract and descriptive information in and from its electronic format;

- keep more than one copy of the Work for purposes of security, back-up, preservation, and/or access;

- copy, convert, remediate, or migrate the Work to any medium or format for the purpose of accessibility;

- allow others to access, view, and download the Work, unless access restrictions are in place;

- and enhance descriptive information about the Works to support access.

These Terms of Deposit do not transfer copyright to the University of Michigan or others.
By granting this license, I acknowledge that I have read and agreed to the Terms of Use and all related Deep Blue Documents and University of Michigan policies.

If I'm a proxy depositing on behalf of a University of Michigan affiliate, in addition to the standard Terms above, note that the following Terms apply:

- I represent and warrant that the affiliate has granted me the authority to deposit a Work on their behalf;

- I have notified the affiliate of these Terms of Use and they have agreed to them.
