Iraq exports 1.6 million oil barrels daily
Iraq, Economics, 8/10/2005

Iraq's oil minister Ibrahim Baher al-Oloum said that Iraq is to exporting 1.6 million barrels of oil daily in this phase, besides the local consumption estimated at 600,000 barrels daily.

Baher al-Oloum said that the government in Iraq, where citizens are angry because of fuel shortages, is looking to produce 13 million liters of Benzene daily by the end of August, and 14 million liters by October.

Baher al-Oloum said that the ministry of oil scored in June highest monthly revenues in the history of oil industry in Iraq where revenues reached $ 2.5 billion.

He indicated that Iraq produced 11 million liters of Benzene daily in July up from 10.25 million liters in June and up from 9.6 million in May. He said that the ministry aims to raise production and exports to the levels of the first half of 2004.

The Iraqi oil refineries in northern and southern parts of the country could increase production capacity of oil byproducts by an increase ranging between 7% and 10% of liquid gas and Benzene.

Iraq has been negotiating with international oil refineries for investment to establish an oil refinery with a capacity of 300,000 barrels daily to meet local needs.

Engineer Hassan Muhammad Tayeh announced experimental operation for al-Samawah oil refinery after suspension that lasted 14 years following the great devastation that hit it during the first Gulf war and the US invasion in 2003.
