Biologic and Materials Sciences includes the disciplines of oral biology and biomaterials
Oral biology is a multi-disciplinary science concerned with the structures and functions of tissues, fluids, and microbial flora in the oral cavity and adjoining areas. Instruction in oral biology provides the basis for understanding complex biological interactions which occur in the mouth and related structures.
TInstruction in biomaterials is intended to develop an understanding of the behavior of materials used in the dental office and laboratory. The objective is to teach sufficient fundamentals so that intelligent decisions can be made in the clinical and laboratory use of dental materials.
