A faculty clinical counselor is assigned to each third-year medical school student. This counselor assists with senior clerkship selections and career plans. Counselors are also responsible for approving the student's initial senior schedule as well as any subsequent changes the student might wish to make. It is the student's responsibility to make the Office of Student Programs aware of any career plan changes so that another counselor may be assigned in the new specialty interest. A comprehensive career-counseling program has been designed and implemented to advise and assist students in selecting a medical career. This program, coordinated through the Office of Student Programs, is structured to provide information and support from matriculation into medical school through graduation. Students can make an appointment for career counseling by calling 763-6362.
