The Medical School Administration (MSA) Office developed a banded classification system to acknowledge and reward staff contributions and to recognize an individual’s growth within his/her position. This system flattens our organizational structure significantly and de-emphasizes the importance of titles and salary grades that we find in the current classification system. The new banded system allows a manager to assign/re-assign staff to projects more easily without needing to change the classification of the individual or transfer the work to another specialty unit for completion.
