What kind of information should I include on my poster?
Title of poster presentation
The title should be descriptive of your project, but not too long. Your title is often the first thing noticed on your poster.
Include the name of the authors (this will likely include your name, your faculty advisors and the names of any other individuals who have had a part in the research your poster presentation is covering).
A description of work, including a summary of your objective and hypothesis, methods, results and conclusions. Being clear and concise is the key.
Objectives and Hypothesis
State the objectives and hypothesis of the study. What were/are the specific aims of your project? Is there a 'big' picture?
Methods
A description of the methods, materials, techniques or models that were employed in your research. How was your research conducted
Results/Expected Results
Present the results of the study with a brief description. What is the outcome of your research?
Use tables, figures, graphs to summarize data.
Make sure tables, figures and graphs are appropriately labeled (Table 1, Figure 2, etc.) and titled.
All tables, figures and graphs should be referred to in the text of your poster.
Conclusions (summary)
Describe whether your data supports or does not support your hypothesis. Describe the implications of your work for future investigation or clinical care. What does your data mean?

Above is a sample arrangement for a poster display. The foam core area is 32" x 40". You will attach (by push pins) each mounted section of your poster on this foam core. Prepare a title board for the top section of your poster listing title and authors. The lettering for this section should be no less than one inch high.
All illustrations/text should be made up beforehand. Bear in mind that your illustrations/text must be read from distances of approximately five feet or more. Charts, drawings and illustrations should be similar to those you would use for making slides. Mount each section of your poster on matte board in a contrasting color. All text should be typed in boldface and enlarged (use approximately an 18 point font). Keep illustrative material simple.
In order to have Ulrichs professionally cut your sections on matte board, you MUST specify your measurements. Please make sure you fill out the Ulrichs order form with the correct measurements (order form is attached to gift certificate). Ulrichs will not make these measurements for you, nor will they put your poster together for you. It is your responsibility to come to the Forum with your poster sections fully assembled.
How do I put together my poster?
Posters should be prepared using laser-printer quality text, diagrams and charts. (Charts, drawings, and illustrations should be similar to those used for making slides. Keep illustrative material simple.) Text should be no smaller than 18-point font, and should be able to be read from a distance of five to ten feet. Be clear and concise.
Each section of your poster should be mounted on matte board in a contrasting color; remember to be professional in your color selection. The different sections of your poster will be attached to one presentation board (32 x 40 foam core) at the Forum by push pins. (OSBRP and UROP will provide the push pins, presentation boards, and will have additional adhesive on hand for you to make minor repairs if necessary.)
You will be given a gift certificate in the amount of $7.50 for Ulrichs Electronic and Art store. Gift certificates will be available in October at the UROP or SBRP office. They will also be available at the Poster Workshops in October and November (dates and times TBD). This gift certificate is valid only toward the purchase of matte board and cutting fees (for the art department to professionally cut your matte board). We recommend the 32x40 matte board. You must specify your measurements for cutting; Ulrichs will not do this for you. DO NOT purchase adhesive supplies with this gift certificate. Adhesive supplies are available for check out from the UROP office.
The large poster printouts available at the Media Union CANNOT be accommodated at the Forum.
Your faculty sponsor should see every aspect of this poster before finalizing it and mounting it on matte board.
When do I drop my poster off?
On Friday, November 15th in the Michigan League Ballroom. Exact times will be emailed to you at a later date.
NOTE: Your poster panels MUST be fully assembled before arriving at the Michigan League.
When/Where is the Forum?
At the Michigan League in the Ballroom (2nd Floor) 3-5pm on Tuesday, November 6th.
What should I wear?
Semi-professional or Professional attire.
