Advisory
Council on Clinical Research (ACCR)
The Advisory
Council on Clinical Research (ACCR) is an advisory body initiated
in 1997 as part of the program of Academic Support Funds supporting
new faculty initiatives within the Medical School. It was formed
based on specific recommendations made by a faculty Task Force on
Clinical Research. The Council includes ten members from different
disciplines, each of whom serve three-year rotations. ACCR is analogous
in function to the Biomedical
Research Council.
ACCR is charged
with:
- strategic
planning for key translational areas of research;
- peer
reviewed allocation of funds to support collaborative, patient-based
research projects involving clinical faculty PIs and co-investigators
who spend the majority of their effort in basic research;
- guidance
on centralized administration and service needs for clinical research;
- strengthening
of linkages with Health Services and Outcomes research activities;
and
- coordination
of programmatic functions to enhance clinical research (including
symposia).
- ACCR
also reviews nominations for the annual Dean's
Award for Achievement in Clinical Research.
