Rotation Schedules

The rotation schedules are the basis for our cap determinations. As such, they are critically important to the institution and must be of sufficient quality to allow accurate determination of FTE numbers and sustain the scrutiny of an audit.

To meet the standards, the following principles apply to rotation schedules:

  1. A rotation schedule must be completed for every trainee (residents and fellows) in a Graduate Medical Education Program.
  2. A rotation schedule must include the trainee assignment at a half day level of detail.
  3. The Program Administrator is required to submit amendments to each trainee schedule if there are changes in their rotations.
  4. Activities of Special Purpose Trainees must also be reflected on rotation schedules.

Approved by the GME Review Board on March 23, 1999
