Staff Member of the Year Award
Jane Weyher, staff
assistant, Medical School Administration
Jane's nomination packet spoke of her dedication and helpfulness throughout
all aspects of her job, but especially to the promotion and appointment
process. According to her nominators, "No matter how busy she is,
she always has time to explain a procedure, give advice or interpret a
policy." The Nomination Review Committee agreed that she always makes
the process go smoothly, no matter how many barriers she encounters along
the way. One nominator states: "The success of the recruitment of
prominent faculty members is directly attributable to Jane's role as Staff
Assistant to the Advisory and Executive Committees. She foresees potential
problems with appointment or promotion packages and addresses these issues
with the departments before the committees review them. She possesses
a wealth of historical information on all aspects of faculty hiring, promotion,
Regents' Communications, and countless policies and procedures.
This knowledge, coupled with her welcoming manner and
delightful sense of humor, maker her a "go-to" person for both
the new staff
member and the seasoned department chair looking for advice." To
quote one Medical School professor, "No one gets appointed
to the Medical School faculty without Jane Weyher's approval!"
