Innovation Award

The Medical School Dean’s Office is soliciting nominations for the Innovation Award. This award is to recognize a faculty member or group of faculty members who have developed an innovation that is radically improving or transforming clinical outcomes, educational processes, or research processes. The Innovation Award is to recognize truly important advances and therefore may not be awarded each year. This award carries a $5,000 discretionary academic support prize, which will be given to the faculty member or group.

This will be a two-stage selection process. Nominations submitted to the selection committee will be reviewed and a list of potential awardees given to the Dean of the Medical School. The Dean will make the final selection. The nomination deadline is Thursday, May 15, 2003.

Nominees must be faculty of the University of Michigan Medical School. Nominations are welcome from faculty, staff, and/or students (self-nominations will be permitted).

Nominations must include the following:

1. A statement from the nominator regarding the nominee’s innovation.
2. Two letters of support from external individuals (outside of the institution) evaluating the importance of the advance.
3. A copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae.
