Helping medical students make the connection
Patients and their families are being recruited now to get involved with medical student education this fall. If you know someone who is a U-M Health System patient who lives in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti, tell them about the new Family Centered Experience program, which pairs medical students with volunteer families. Staff who receive care at the U-M Health System are also invited to participate. By sharing their health care experiences with medical students, volunteers will be helping to train the next generation of doctors. Students will better be able to understand how health changes, chronic conditions and serious illnesses affect patients and those close to them. More information is available at www.med.umich.edu/familycenteredexperience/ or by calling toll-free (866) 337-0017. If you'd like to know how this program is being promoted to the community, visit www.med.umich.edu/familycenteredexperience/familypromo.htm.
