The UMMS Virtual Tour Project Needs Your Input
Attention: Faculty, Staff, Students and Residents
UMMS Web Services is in the process of developing a web-based tour and we need your input. The tour will contain interactive, 360 degree photos and video clips. Interactive photos will allow prospective students, residents and faculty to look inside a room just by moving their mouse. Our virtual tour will have about five interactive images. Please help us build the tour by listing the five most important buildings or locations on campus via e-mail. The tour will feature the top five areas based on your vote. The locations might include Circle Drive, the UMHS Cafeteria, and the inside or outside of buildings, rooms, labs, etc. E-mail Lisa Copeland with your list of locations and indicate if you are faculty, staff, a medical or graduate student, or a resident/fellow. Thanks for your help. We will share the results with you in the near future.

Increase in IRBMED Fee
The Medical School announces an increase in the IRBMED Fee charged to industry sponsors. For the first time since 1997, when the fee was introduced, the Medical School will increase the charge to industrial sponsors for review of protocols involving human research participants by the Medical School's Institutional Review Board. The fee will increase from $1,000 to $1,800.

Sponsored projects routed to the Medical School Grants Office must carry the new fee as of Feb. 17. Previously reviewed proposals, or those undergoing current review, will be grandfathered into this system. The Medical School Grants Office will make the determinations for any exceptions to the new fee during the transition.

A review of peer institutions indicates this increased fee is consistent within the practices of the group. Industrial sponsors of research involving human subjects are accustomed to paying fees for IRB review as a direct cost line item in the study budgets. Contact the Medical School Grants Office at 763-4272 with questions.
