Setup for Taubman roof replacement begins today
Replacement of the Taubman roof will begin today with setup for and removal of the rock used for ballast. All removal of rock will be off-hours because it is very noisy. Actual work on the roof will begin approximately the week of May 6, 2002. Masonry work will start on May 1 and will be performed during working hours. During this phase, the building (including windows) may get dirty. This will be addressed once the masonry work is completed.

On May 6, 2002, weather permitting, a crane will be setup in the front of the hospital between the emergency room and the main entrance to the hospital. On the evening of May 6, deliveries of roofing materials will occur. Materials will be staged on the roof. Work should start in the southwest corner of the Taubman building and work to the northeast corner. The hours of operation could be 4 a.m.-10 a.m. for the removal portion; the noisiest part of the operation. They will probably work until 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. each day for adherence of the new roof. Depending on the weather, this work should be substantially completed by July 15, 2002.

The work could be noisy at times and there could be an odor from attaching the new roof. The material is VOC free.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
For more information, contact Trudy Zedekar-Witte, project manager at 5-9017 or Barbara A. France, THC Building Manager, at 6-7410.
