Dr. Taheri graduated medical school from New York University in 1988 and completed his general surgical residency at Tulane University in 1994. He has been a full-time faculty member at the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) in Ann Arbor since 1994, and he became the Division Chief of Trauma Burn Surgery in 1998. He completed his MBA from the University of Michigan Business School (UMBS) in 1999. Currently, he is the Associate Dean for Academic Business Development. Together with David Butz, he is the founder and Co-director of the Center for Health Care Economics, a University of Michigan Business School and Medical School joint initiative. Dr. Taheri also participates and holds positions in multiple national trauma organizations.
